Visit Moco during Visit Indiana Week

   We are celebrating Visit Indiana week by showcasing our assets here in MoCo! Follow the daily list for ideas!

State Parks Sunday (May 5) kicks off Visit Indiana week with admission to 49 Indiana Department of Natural Resources properties, including Shades State Park and Turkey Run State Park with FREE ADMISSION. Both state parks offer plenty of hiking and the great outdoors.

May 6 is Get Moving Monday, and you are encouraged to get out and explore the Hoosier State and Montgomery County. Visit Indiana Zipline Tours to soar in the trees, get out and walk the Sugar Creek Trail, rent a canoe or kayak from Sugar Creek Campground or Clements Canoes and take a trip down Sugar Creek or visit one of the many city and town parks around the county.

           

For Tasty Tuesday on May 7, visit one of our local restaurants on the Indiana Foodways Alliance, including Maxine’s on Green, Allen’s Country Kitchen and Creekside Lodge Restaurant. From soups and sandwiches to tasty cakes and pies, Tasty Tuesday will be a culinary celebration of the Hoosier State everyone can enjoy.

Wayback Wednesday celebrates Indiana’s historical destinations. On May 8, visit one or all of the incredible museums that Montgomery County is blessed with, including the Rotary Jail Museum, Lane Place, Lew Wallace Study & Museum, Carnegie Museum, Midtown Museum of Native Cultures and the Linden Depot Museum.* There are so many stories to be told and history lessons to be learned.

Prepare to quench your thirst on Thirsty Thursday, May 9. Enjoy a craft beer from Backstep Brewing Company or grab a coffee at the Joshua Cup or Parthenon. Whatever you choose, it will be a great day to get out and enjoy local beverages. Also, show off some mad knowledge skills at Backstep’s Trivia Night.

Friday, May 10 is a great day to get your loved ones out of the house and enjoy Family Fun Friday. Whether you decide to do a practice run for the upcoming Friends of Sugar Creek Canoe Race by getting in a canoe or kayak, to stroll through Athens Arts Gallery or enjoy a day at Lake Waveland, there is so much to do that you shouldn’t hear, “I’m bored!”.

               

Ice scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream! Make dessert the main course on Sweet Saturday, May 11. Did you know that MoCo has five places to get yummy ice cream? Visit the Big Dipper and Dari-Licious in Crawfordsville, Country Dollar in Waveland, Lindy Freeze in Linden or the Sweet and Salty Ice Cream Shop in Darlington to get your sweet fix!
