Parmalee to Headline Monster Energy Series at Ironman GNCC

Contemporary Country Band Parmalee to Headline
Monster Energy Concert Series at Ironman GNCC

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (October 10, 2023) – The Progressive Grand National Cross Country Series presented by Specialized, an AMA National Championship, (GNCC Racing) is excited to announce contemporary country music band, Parmalee as the Monster Energy Concert Series headliner for this year’s Yamaha Racing Ironman GNCC on Saturday, October 21.

After forming the band in 2001, Parmalee worked day jobs and would tour on the weekends until they were signed by Stoney Creek Records in 2011. The group is comprised of Matt Thomas (guitar/lead vocals) and Scott. Thomas (drums), along with their cousin Barry Knox (bass) and life-long friend (Josh McSwain (guitar). They are known for their family harmonies and melodies, as well as their radio favorites, including their hit “Take My Name,” which also helped the band accumulate more than 1 billon on-demand streams.

Parmalee’s current single, “Girl In Mine,” continues their streak of consecutive No. 1 singles, which topped the Country Aircheck/Mediabase radio chart on the week of October 2, 2023. This follows their 2022 No. 1 record-setting song, “Take My Name,” which was Billboard’s Most Played Country Song of 2022, as well as their No. 1 Platinum hit “Just The Way” with Blanco Brown.

The band had first topped the charts with their song, “Carolina,” which was inspired by their home state. The band has just released a new album, “For You 2,” which includes 18 songs and is the deluxe version of the bands third project “For You,” which was released back in 2021. The other new tracks included on the album are “Gonna Love You,” “Is It Just Me,” “Boyfriend” and “Wish You Never Loved Me.”

Their road to success was not an easy one, back in 2010 the band was performing for a small group of people in South Carolina, making $15. As they retired back to their RV, which was parked at the venue, the band was robbed after two guys stepped into their RV. Scott, who had his carry permit and his pistol tucked under his bunk, emerged from the back to diffuse the situation and while taking out both assailants, was shot three times. Scott was airlifted and spent 10 days in a coma and another 30 days recovering in the hospital after doctors told his bandmates he had a five percent chance of survival.

Five months after, Scott would limp onto stage and play a showcase with his bandmates for Stoney Creek Records, who ended up signing them immediately. Nowadays Parmalee continues to attribute their longevity of playing together due to the love of playing music for fans. They simply have no regrets and have the same determination as they did when they started this journey together.

Parmalee hits the Monster Energy stage on Saturday evening at 9:00 p.m., while Indiana’s own, Jonny James will perform Friday evening at 9:00 p.m. ET. James has been featured on multiple country radio stations and has been noted as one of the up and coming artists to watch out for.
