Explore our rocky wonders! Shades State Park is a favorite of hikers and paddlers in the fall. Pause to take photos of this breathtaking location, sandstone cliffs overlooking Sugar Creek and shady ravines. It is hard to believe that you are still in Indiana! This is nature’s wonder in Central Indiana, just 17 miles southwest of Crawfordsville.

Discover Deer’s Mill Covered Bridge to access Sugar Creek and begin your canoeing adventure. Pine Hills Nature Preserve is on site, offering spectacular photo ops throughout your long hike. When you look up to the heavens in the evening, you’ll find one of the darkest skies in the state. A wonderful view for stargazers!
